The Old Temple

We visited th village's old temple yesterday.  This is place that Dr. Tony was an apprentice monk for two years when he was about 12-13 years old.  The older structure is about 150 years old.  There is now a newer, more active temple nearby.  The older one is cared for as a part of the village's history.

Recently, when they were doing a small amount of digging to preparing for the building of the five golden Buddha sculptures, they discovered a series of artifacts.  Some are made of a metal, which appears to be bronze, and others seem to be made of clay.  There are many of them, they appear to be quit old, and are in remarkable condition.  They plan to have them authenticated and documented, but we were lucky to have been allowed to be shown them by the temple caretaker.
