Buddha Caves

Once in Laos, the first stop was the Buddha Cave.  Narong had been to the cave before and was excited to show it to us.

The drive there was stunningly beautiful! This picture is from the car and doesn't  do it justice!

About the cave... In 2004, a man climbed up into the cave and, amoungst the bats, found many Buddha statues.

Now, there is a much easier path to the cave and far fewer bats.

Before the walk:

There was no photography allowed in the cave, so you will have to trust me-- it was phenomenal!!!

The path to the caves was a little bit hot, especially in the required/borrowed appropriate lengthed skirt (they loan you one if you are not dressed for a temple visit). It was well worth it, though, as the cave was defiantly a special visit!
